During a worship service at our 2013 LGBTQ Inquirers and Candidates Retreat, Molly McGinnis, one our future pastors, offered this prayer inspired by her time with us. Last night I stood in the rain.
and let myself get wet.
Because how often do we let ourselves get wet?
Maybe we don’t want to be cleaned.
Can I tell you a secret? Being washed does not make you clean. it exposes your dirt, lays it bare.
But what is wrong with dirt?
From dust we came. To dust we go.
So tell me, how long has it been since you were washed?
