Justice Ministry Education (JME) is the only national certificate program for faith-rooted justice leadership.
Ground your activism in spirit. Deepen your faith through justice work. Become more resilient. Discover a community.
Justice Ministry Education prepares leaders to face the biggest moral challenges of our time. JME is for those who want to deepen the spiritual side of their activism and those who want to deepen the justice side of their spiritual work.
Participants are from all faiths and are community members, organizers, faith leaders, students, and non-profit staff or board members. They train for 300 hours, dividing their time between justice work in the field and guided learning in a small group. At the conclusion of the program they receive a certificate from Auburn Seminary.
JME Utah will be led by Rev. Marian Edmonds-Allen. Marian is the executive director of Parity, a national LGBTQ faith affirming nonprofit. She previously served as the executive director of OUTreach Resource Centers, the Utah Pride Center as well as the national program director for the Family Acceptance Project.
Marian specializes in creating alliances and building bridges to maximize impact, bringing together diverse voices for positive social change and to change laws. She is a Petra Fellow and 2014 Q Salt Lake Person of the Year, recognized for her work with and for LGBTQ youth in Utah and beyond. She is a former church planter and has served in a variety of pastoral, chaplaincy and ministry roles.
In her spare time, Marian loves to hike, ski and play badminton with her wife and four children under the watchful gaze of her Vizsla, Bernese Mountain Dog, and two Siamese cats.
Admissions are rolling, with a deadline of August 31. The program begins in October.
